Frequently Asked Questions
What is TM Chitosan?
TM Chitosan is extracted from chitin found in the shells of shrimp, crabs and lobsters. Chitin is also found in the exoskeletons or predatory and crop destroying insects, and the plants are tricked into thinking they are under attack by a predator. When plants are threatened, they react in a manner referred to SAR, which is an abbreviation for Systemic Activation Response. Once SAR is activated and there is no attack the plant can then use the cascade of triggered plant hormones to grow and strengthen itself.
What is Chitosan?
Chitin and chitosan are naturally-occurring compounds that have enormous potential in agriculture. These molecules were shown to inhibit fungal growth and development. And have been reported to be active against viruses, bacteria and other pests. (Chitosan in Plant Protection Abdelbasset El Hadrami,1 Lorne R. Adam,1 Ismail El Hadrami,2 and Fouad Daayf1,)
